ApconiX Welcomes David Jones
ApconiX is delighted to welcome David Jones as a consultant toxicologist after a career spanning over 25 years at the UK Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). David is a European Registered Toxicologist and a Fellow of the British Toxicology Society as well as a Chartered Biologist and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology. He also lectures at the University of Surrey and the University of Wales. His many years of experience at the MHRA provide invaluable insight to clients looking to take drugs into clinical trials.
After initially working in pharma and contract research, David joined the Medicines Control Agency (which became the MHRA) in 1996, where he became an Expert Nonclinical Assessor. David was responsible for assessing the nonclinical data for Clinical Trial Authorisation Applications and chaired over a hundred scientific advice meetings every year.
David commented, “The last two years have been quite remarkable because of COVID19. I assessed every application for potential COVID19 vaccines and treatments. This involved 15-hour days, and often working 7 days a week for much of summer and winter 2020”.
David added, “I am very pleased to be working with ApconiX. I have known and worked with Richard, Ruth, Björn, Jane and Guy for many years and appreciate the reputation the team of expert toxicologists have”.
Richard Knight, Co-founder and Director of ApconiX added, “David is a fantastic addition to the team. His wealth of knowledge and vast experience with the MHRA will be invaluable for many of our clients taking novel drugs into clinical trials”.
David is looking forward to spending more time in his garden and has just bought a greenhouse. “I feel as if I’m a professional grandfather these days. I have 7 grandchildren spread all over the world. Now travel restrictions have lifted, my wife and I are looking forward to being able to see them all in person not just on screens”.
